April 3, 2025 at 23:02
On April 3, 2025, the Applied Mathematics Department welcomed its new head, Danylo Tavrov. He has become the youngest department head in its history, bringing sufficient administrating, academic, and international experience.
Danylo holds graduated from three universities:
Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD from his home department at Igor Sikorsky KPI;
Master’s in Economic Analysis from the Kyiv School of Economics;
Master’s in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley (USA).
In 2015–2016, he was a Fulbright Scholar at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, USA).
At the start of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Danylo returned from the U.S., believing that his knowledge and efforts should serve his homeland. He follows the principle of Yevhen Chykalenko:
"It is not enough to love Ukraine to the bottom of your heart; you must also love it to the bottom of your wallet."
Despite the challenges of wartime, the Department of Applied Mathematics continues to move forward.
Danylo Tavrov’s research interests include statistics, econometrics, Bayesian data analysis, machine learning, and geometric modeling. He has authored over 50 research papers.
