As part of our commitment to the continuous quality improvement of our academic offerings, the Applied Mathematics Department hosted a postgraduate curriculum review meeting on December 12. The session brought together the faculty members involved in delivering the Master's Educational and Scientific Programme in "Machine Learning and Mathematical Modelling" (formerly "Data Science and Mathematical Modelling" prior to 2025). The meeting featured key contributions from the Programme Guarantor, Professor Igor Orynyak, and Head of the Department Danylo Tavrov. Department Professor Oleg Chertov, Associate Professor Sergey Solovyov, and Assistant Roman Mazuryk also contributed actively to the session, dialling in via audio link only due to the challenging power grid situation.

The Programme Coordinator proposed exploring the following strategic updates to the curriculum:

• Consolidating Core Content: Remove the Geometric Modelling course component and transfer the corresponding instructional material directly into the 'Modelling of Complex Systems' course component.

• Introducing Advanced AI Foundations: Introduce a new course component to replace Geometric Modelling, designed to provide students with advanced mathematical frameworks for constructing mathematical modelling methods, including applications within machine learning and generative artificial intelligence.

• Aligning Research Focus: Introduce a new course component, Machine Learning. Academic Year Paper, to replace the existing Modelling of Complex Systems. Academic Year Paper module.

The participating faculty members agreed to extend these discussions to determine the optimal format for integrating these proposals into the syllabus.
