Oleg Chertov at the “Synergy: IT education and IT industry” conference

On December 15, 2016, the Head of the Applied Mathematics Department Oleg Chertov participated in the Fourth International Conference “Synergy: IT education and IT industry.”

During the conference, a fruitful discussion took place involving representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and IT companies “Reforming the Universities. University Autonomy for Enhancing Efficiency of IT Professional.”

Department Assist. Prof. Dan Tavrov Got PhD Degree

On October 20, 2016, Applied Mathematics Department Assistant Professor Dan Tavrov successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Models, Methods and Information Technology for Providing Data Group Anonymity,” major 05.13.06 (information technologies).

FoAM in DOU Ranking

According to the May 2016 dou.ua university ranking, Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the NTUU “KPI” is ranked among faculties evaluated above average by the willingness of interviewed respondents to recommend for studying IT. In particular, it is evaluated as a first-class and demanding faculty that provides novel knowledge and network useful for work in IT. At the same time, the level corruption at the faculty is evaluated below average.

Intelligent Analysis of Information’2016

On May 18–20, Applied Mathematics Department hosted T. A. Taran International Scientific Conference “Intelligent Analysis of Information’2016.”

This year’s conference continued a fine tradition of meeting in Kyiv for scientific seminars (later — conferences) devoted to discussing novel achievements in data mining, cognitive semiotics, ontology engineering, network modeling, and other fields.

NTUU “KPI” Academic Mobility Division announces the start of the application process for short-term study at Technische Universität Dresden for any major offered by this university.

Two scholarships are being offered for study in the Summer 2016 semester, from April to August. The scholarship amounts to approximately €450 per month.

Department Assist. Prof. Sergiy Siryk Got PhD Degree

On November 30, 2015, Applied Mathematics Department Assistant Professor Sergiy Siryk brilliantly defended his PhD thesis in physics and mathematical sciences, major 01.05.02 (mathematical modeling and numerical methods).
The title of the thesis is Computational schemes and weight functions of finite element Petrov-Galerkin method for high-precision modeling of convection-diffusion processes.
