This year, Dan Tavrov, Assistant Lecturer at the Applied Mathematics Department, PhD student (scientific advisor ScD, Head of the AMD Oleg Chertov), won the Fulbright scholarship to conduct research at the Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA, the U.S.).

Dan became the finalist of the Fulbright Faculty Development Program, with his project devoted to providing data group anonymity. Mr. Tavrov will be doing his research under the famous American Professor Stephen Fienberg.

It is worth noting that in the Academic year 2015/2016, a total of 49 Ukrainians became Fulbright grantees in different programs. Among them are 21 scholars, 10 young researchers, and 18 graduates.

On June 5, 2015, a pre-departure orientation took place at the Embassy of the United States. The grantees were welcomed by the Director of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine Marta Kolomayets and Counselor of the U.S. Embassy for Public Affairs Conrad Turner.

The Fulbright Program was founded in 1946 by senator J. William Fulbright in order to promote the academic exchange between the U. S. and other countries. Currently, the Program plays a significant role in the international education and science. It operates in over 155 countries worldwide. The Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State.
