Where and when were you born?

In Kyiv, on April 21, 1967.

What school have you graduated from?

Physics and Mathematics School № 145 (now Kyiv Science and Education Lyceum).

What university did you graduate from? What major was it?

I graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, majored in mathematics.

Why did you decide to become a university professor?

According to both my education and personal preferences, I am a “pure” mathematician, a theoretical mathematician. Therefore, it was natural for me to choose among the two paths, either science or teaching. I’m lucky in being able to combine both.

When did you start teaching at the KPI?

I teach as of 2014.

When did you start to be interested in math?

Ever since I remember myself.

What do you do in your spare time, do you have a hobby?

My whole life’s passion are books. Various ones. I simply devour them.
I also adore skiing. I’ve been doing that for over 30 years now and always get unreal pleasure.

If all the books disappeared in the world, and it was possible to save only one copy, what would you choose?

Apparently, some big encyclopedia.

Do you like sports?

In school and during student years, I was very seriously engaged in gymnastics.
And also skiing, for the last more than 30 years. Maybe, not as sports though, rather as relaxation and pleasure.

Do you enjoy traveling?

I do, quite much. Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen as much as I’d like to.

Can you recall a favorite city from your trips, the one that lasts in your memory?

Apparently the Alps. Austrian Tyrol.

If you caught a golden fish, what would you wish for?

I will not be original here. I would wish for health and happiness for myself and my relatives. Also, for peace and well-being in Ukraine.

What did you want to become as a child?

You will laugh, but I wanted to be a mathematician.

Please tell us a little about your family.

With my future husband, we studied in the same class at school, and then in the same group at the university. We’ve been together for 30 years now. My son has graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. My daughter is finishing her studies at the Kyiv Natural Science Lyceum. She’s a Champion of Ukraine in skiing at her age.

What are the qualities in people you appreciate and which ones you do not like?

I appreciate honesty, integrity, kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor. And I don’t like, well, the lack of those.

Are there any favorites among the students you teach?

Certainly! I'm flesh and blood after all. I try not to rely on these affections when making objective assessment of their knowledge. It does not always happen, but I'm working hard.

How do you relax from students?

To do this, there are hobbies — books, skiing, fitness.

What do the students lack?

Vision of their purpose, direction of movement. The majority just goes with the flow.
