What school have you graduated from?

Lyceum 15, Chernihiv.

What university did you graduate from? What major was it?

Taras Shevchenko Chernihiv State Pedagogical University, mathematics and computer science.

Why did you decide to become a university professor?

As a student, I began to teach electives at school, and I liked it. Decided to engage in science and teaching.

When did you start teaching at the KPI?

2017.

When did you start to be interested in math?

In childhood.

What do you find the most difficult in the professor’s job?

Developing a new course in way interesting to students. Each group of students calls for its own approach.

What do you do in your spare time, do you have a hobby?

I like travelling. In summer, I swim, in winter, I ski.

Do you believe in God?

Yes.

Do you enjoy traveling?

A lot. Using various types of transportation. Not excluding biking and hiking. But especially I prefer traveling by car.

Can you recall a favorite city from your trips, the one that lasts in your memory?

Each city carries in itself something interesting. Among the European cities, I would single out Amsterdam and Dresden. I also like the nature along Desna river near Chernihiv.

Do you have a rule or principle that you adhere to in your life?

If you want to achieve something, you have to work hard.

What did you want to become as a child?

An astronaut.

What was your student life like?

Interesting, lots of travelling. In particular, thanks to trips to All-Ukrainian Olympiads.

Are there any favorites among the students you teach?

I always try to be objective with students. If a weak student tries to learn, but he does not succeed, you can get easy on him. And if the student is bright, but lazy, then it is necessary to put more pressure on him.

Do you think that teaching methods become obsolete with time?

I believe that education needs to be changed. In particular, it is necessary to substantially revise curricula, in order to orient the educational process on the requirements of modern society. The basic principle, which, in my opinion, should be guiding the teaching process, can be expressed in Kant’s words: “One should teach not thoughts, but how to think.”
