Recently, a Conference on Science Fiction Literature organized by the All-Ukrainian Association of Science Fiction Fans took place in Kyiv. The conference was held on September 26–29, 2013, in the Scientific and Technical Library of NTUU “KPI”. This gathering is a traditional annual event, which consistently attracts thousands of fans of the science fiction genre.

At the conference, a number of reports has been read, several workshops on various aspects and problems of modern Ukrainian and Russian science fiction have been held, meetings with a number of writers, literary scholars, and critics have been conducted. Among the honored guests of the conference, one can single out Leonid Kahanov, Volodymyr Areniev, Fedir Berezin, Andrii Valentynov, Yurii Vynnychuk, Mariia Halyna, Yana Dubynianska, Maryna and Serhii Diachenko, Mikhail Nazarenko, Henry Lion Oldie, and many other world renowned authors.

In addition, the conference program included presentations of new science fiction books, a book fair, an art exhibition, poetry readings by authors, workshops for young writers, autograph sessions, and movie demonstration. The main part of the conference was announcing the results of the National Ukrainian Science Fiction Award in eight nominations (the best science fiction novel of the year, the best science fiction story of the year, the best critical article of the year, etc.) and awarding the winners.

During the conference, each participant could listen to or talk about the latest news in the world of science fiction, talk about sci-fi topics interesting to the participants, discuss works of young authors, express her opinion, or simply communicate with unique and intelligent people.
